In a startling turn of events, the Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested a man at Shalimar station on Sunday after a routine questioning led to the discovery of a large sum of money. The arrested individual, identified as Vinay Kumar, was found in possession of nearly 18 lakh rupees when his bag was searched by the GRP.
The incident occurred in the morning when GRP officials noticed Vinay behaving suspiciously at platform number three of the station. Concerned by his actions, they approached him for questioning. Upon inspecting his bag, they found 17 lakh 95 thousand rupees in cash, leading to immediate arrest.
Vinay Kumar, a resident of Howrah's PK Banerjee Road, had traveled to Shalimar station aboard the Patna-Salimar Duronto Express. His train ticket was also found during the questioning, confirming his arrival. However, when the GRP asked about the origin of the large sum of money, Vinay could not provide a satisfactory explanation. This raised suspicions, and as per standard procedure, the police confiscated the money.
The arrest has sparked curiosity as the source of such a large amount of cash remains unclear. There are questions regarding the intended destination of the money and its origins. The GRP has now begun a thorough investigation to uncover more details about the source of the money and whether any illegal activities are involved.
Shalimar station, which has witnessed several high-profile cases in recent months, is once again at the center of a law enforcement investigation. The authorities are now focusing on tracing the movements of Vinay Kumar and his financial dealings.
As of now, the police have not disclosed any further details, but the case continues to unfold. The GRP is working to determine whether this was an isolated incident or part of a larger financial operation.
